News

The Botanical Art Forum was founded in 2009 by painter Sylvia Peter and forestry scientist Michael Junginger to raise awareness of contemporary botanical art in Germany. From 2009 to 2025, we held numerous exhibitions featuring international botanical artists.

Since January 2026, we have ceased operating the gallery in this form for family reasons.
On our website, you will currently find general information about botanical art, links to the artists we have represented to date, and a new page about the “Botanical Art Network,” which has been in existence since 2014.

Botanical Art Network

The Botanical Art Network brings together around one hundred artists and journalists who are passionate about plants. Since 2014, we have been organizing annual meetings in different locations in Germany, featuring exhibition visits and discussion groups. A team from the network organized the German-Austrian contributions to the international art project “Botanical Art Worldwide.”

The history
of Botanical Art

Botanical art is a facet of contemporary art in which the plant world is the sole subject of the artwork. Sylvia Peter and Dr. Renate Hücking describe how this art form has developed worldwide and in German-speaking countries.

Botanical Art Worldwide

The international exhibition project has already taken place twice: in 2018 and 2025. The idea for it arose at one of the conferences of the American Society of Botanical Art. From the very beginning, German artists Sylvia Peter and Verena Redmann were involved and became members of the international committee that organizes the project. Here you can see a review of the German-Austrian contribution, which was shown in the Botanical Art Forum.
